Tommy Green, former lead vocalist of the hardcore band Sleeping Giant, left the scene for quite some time. He was relatively quiet from their final album in 2018 until he reappeared in 2023 with a new band and a new set of doctrines and theologies. Their sound is very unique, being self-described as “holy drone violent worship” (whatever that means). I do love their sound very much and I’ve never heard anything like it, but I don’t like the sound of violent worship, unless they are fighting evil spirits as they sing praise to our God???
Tommy has moved from his Charismatic and seemingly Pentecostal beliefs while in Sleeping Giant, to some version of Orthodoxy that resembles Roman Catholicism is many ways. Take for instance, this recent video which seems to propose the incorrect doctrine of transubstantiation, a false Roman Catholic teaching. I’m telling you right now, you cannot find this doctrine in Scripture. No where does it say that the literal body and blood of Christ are present in the bread and juice/wine we drink when we have communion (the Lord’s Supper).
The video premiered on October 31, 2025, and the opening clip is of a medieval hammer banging on wood. On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther pinned his 95 theses (also containing some incorrect doctrines BTW) to the door of a Roman Catholic church, thus being a common point in history that Protestants point to when seeking beginnings of the Reformation. (If none of this is familiar to you, then you need to start studying some Church history.)
Well, let’s watch the video now and you tell me in the comments what you think. (Don’t forget, I love the song. It’s really a great song musically. I simply dislike the lyrics and the insinuation.)
