Yesterday at Parkside Bible Church, Pastor Joe preached from Acts 8 and described where Phillip met the Ethiopian eunuch on the desert road. The eunuch was reading from Isaiah 53 and wanted to know more about the individual about whom it was written. Phillip preached Jesus Christ using this very passage.
All my life, I have enjoyed this event but Joe brought out something that I never saw before, and I’m so thankful. He mentioned that a eunuch has no generations, and a rhetorical question is asked about Christ “…and who shall declare his generation?” Since Christ was not here to marry, He also would not have earthly generations. The eunuch identified with this and rejoiced. This opened my eyes to the beauty of how Christ can become relatable to all the peoples of the world, no matter their situation.
I was further fascinated by the further reading in Isaiah 56, which no doubt the eunuch also read with Phillip: [Isa 56:3-5 KJV] 3 Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself to the LORD, speak, saying, The LORD hath utterly separated me from his people: neither let the eunuch say, Behold, I [am] a dry tree. 4 For thus saith the LORD unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose [the things] that please me, and take hold of my covenant; 5 Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off.
I hope you are as blessed by this revelation as I am. The Lord truly reveals Himself to all who seek him. If you do not know Him, then choose him in faith today. He will save you from the wrath to come.
